How, in the name of sanity, tell me, did they get that under the 59th St. Bridge? Did they waive the height restrictions or am I mistaken about them?

Air draft clearance for the 59th Street Bridge is 134 feet. The ship was also set to move at the lowest stage of the tide. The average East River tidal differential is four to five feet, plus the ship may have taken on some additional water ballast to increase her draft. All of these factors are taken into consideration, and planned way before, for a safe and uneventful maneuver to take place.
