I’ve written a half dozen cargo posts, but what I saw today forces me to do another. See it up there? It’s visible already, but I hadn’t “seen” it when I took this foto. Look at the top row of containers forward and between the green and red . . .
MSC Alexa, Mediterranean bound although slightly behind schedule, with either a new variation on lifeboats or someone’s new speedtoy . . .
Or maybe it’s up there til the vessel reaches a test area in mid-Atantic, when the red toy will be lowered into the waves . . .
zoom zoom. It always makes me wonder what those other containers conceal. Maybe the supplies to get the offshore racer across on some sort of record run. Tell me if you can identify the brand.
Now if I wanted to buy a large Venetian gondola or Indonesian jukung or Egyptian aiyassa, do you suppose I could arrange for MSC to strap it atop a load like this so that I could document it coming under the Verazzano? Check out Puget Sound’s kayak on a cutter. Seen anything strange riding atop a container vessel?

Not as odd as you would think. MANY of those ships transport toys. I’ll be sure to start snapping and forwarding evidence.

Oooooooooo, a cigar boat on trailer. I would guess it was too large to fit in a container.

That’s a 46 Rough Rider manufactured by Cigarette Racing Team of Miami (Opa-Locka actually) Florida.
It happens to be there largest model and one of the rarest too. Oftentimes costing nearly a million dollars apiece when new.
The thought that comes to my mind is that it must be going a short distance. Otherwise i’d imagine it would be Shrink Wrapped at the least and Containerized at the most.
I’ve actually seen times when they are Air Freighted overseas if the customer requests.
It would be enlightening to see what the ports of call are for this vessel.
Perhaps that way we could fathom a guess as to where it will be permanently carving the waves at.
Good Eyes and Good Luck.

good idea, asking about alexa itinerary: from new york, she did norfolk, she may be in charleston now, then valencia, and napoli. anybody see that 46′, rough rider please give a status report. for something that does 100+ mph, rough rider’s a good name.
