I’ve taken hundreds of photos of ships since I last used this title, back in April here.
I don’t tire of watching them, and sometimes can find nothing better to do anyhow. Monte Alegre here was launched in Romania back in 2008.
Happy Ranger has been around a decade longer than Monte Alegre.
It arrived in the sixth boro with
this cargo from Germany.
The rest of these photos come from the not-so-ancient mariner.
Above, that’s Xiamen and Maersk Sydney, and below, from yesterday morning,
it’s the 2017 Taipei Triumph coming in with an escort.
Many thanks to the n-s-a-m for the final three photos. The others, WVD.
It’s fitting that the day before I begin my fourth hitch I catch up on some LL3 events. I put them aside because I needed a change.
Let’s go back only two weeks . . . one night Happy Ranger overtook us
on the way to the next port, Cleveland. In the distance, that’s tug Victory.
As we entered the port that once burned regularly, a SUPer waited for us to pass.
Victory/Maumee was discharging cargo on the city front,
and Happy Ranger lay alongside Beatrix.
I’m not sure of their cargoes, but Happy Ranger is now on its way to the UK, and Beatrix is in Chicago.
Cleveland’s cleanup twins Flotsam and Jetsam were preparing to get underway to clean floating debris that washed into the river and the harbor after a heavy rain.
Bravo!
Maybe I should get in touch with the Port for more on this story.
For a resurrection story, look now farther than this port. See a “then” photo here.
Meanwhile, commerce goes on.
Cleveland impresses me.
All photos, any errors, WVD.
