Retro Sixth Boro 62

June 2013 saw a lot of travel, as did subsequent months.  Let’s start out on the  Delaware river in Philly, and my catching a Crowley boat with El Rey, heading for Puerto Rico.  See more of that event here. Sentry is now Oryx and is in port in Dominican Republic.

Wilmington Tug Inc.’s Madeline was a mere five years old when I took this photo.  It seems the 2008 tug has so far been the last tugboat GH has built. 

Beaufort Belle may now wear the Norfolk Tug livery;  here she was a PCS Phosphate boat operating on the ICW.

While along the ICW, I caught sight of Na’Hoku, once a favorite when she was a K-Sea boat.  For some readers, K-Sea is unfamiliar, since that company was absorbed in its entirety by Kirby a dozen years ago already!

Also along the ICW was Katherine, a long-time Weeks boat. 

USAV 912 Fort Moultrie seems to be still in her USAV service as of 2023, unlike 911 and others. ST-905 spends time in southern New England as Scholarie, but I’ve not yet seen her and can’t confirm that she operates as Scholarie or as Schoharie.  Some help?

Is the 1949 ex-Mohawk Fort Macon still around?

One of the most unusual vessels I’ve ever seen was Tûranor PlanetSolar, which came into the sixth boro on a hazy day in June 2013.  For more photos, click my post on her here. I’ve no idea where and if she floats today. 

This was the 1967 Grace Moran, now scrapped. 

Brigantine Corwith Cramer came into the boro as well.  She’s currently in southern New England.

Schooner Hindu is pushing 100 years old, and I believe she’s being thoroughly rehabbed/rebuilt for the next 100.  Anyone have updates?

Is this green tug still operating near City Island?
