Here was the the first in this series.
You can’t see the signage, but I have it on good authority that the 1982 Ellen S. Bouchard is now Jeffrey S. And heading for the sixth boro is the 1982 ex-Rhea I. Bouchard, newly named, The Beatrice.
Also new to the sixth boro and only recently launched . . . Charles Hughes, a 90′ x 34′ 3000 hp boat.
Vane had an earlier tug, launched 1975, by the same name, honoring one of the founders.
And still fairly new to the boro, the 1976 Miss Madeline, in her new sporty Haughland livery.
All photos, WVD, whose recent posts on newest hulls have feted big orange boats, like this one not yet in service.

The ex Ellen and Rhea Bouchard are a good all around both harbor and coastal tugs. Not over powered and under powered. Far superior to the ex Texaco Fuel Chief and Texaco Diesel Chief.

Hmm? Just now,, after reading (this)-blog & seeing a name’ vane that was the,,, first company that I was a deckhand for the vane brothers,, also a ocean going tug I had forgotten about that name probably because that job wasn’t that good maybe the company might have been ok but,, the crew I worked with they weren’t the greatest to work with funny how when I left there & worked for other tug/ferry company’s it turned out to be good work. there dispatcher guy was named Buddy & back then a Office/headquarters for Bouchard was/is located in Hicksville n.y. not too far from the train station in Long Island sorry,, (again) it just brings back memories when I worked in this line of work. Thumbs up 👍 to your blog.
