Little C is a relatively seldom seen harbor tug
dedicated to Warren George projects.
Coal?
Navigator these days has been pushing coal around the harbor, coal as I understand it thanks to ws–a frequent commenter here–that
was previously intended as fuel to the now-retired Hudson Generation Station.
Transport of some of the coal out of the sixth boro has been performed by SBI Jive; from here, the vessel’s traveled to Rotterdam, then Ust-Luga on the Baltic.
Photos by Will Van Dorp; thanks to ws for following the coal.
As to SBI Jive, she has fleet mates with gambolling names like SBI Macarena, SBI Swing, SBI Zumba, SBI Reggae, SBI Mazurka, SBI Samba, SBI Capoeira . . . and more.

The Guardian, Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, a UN special envoy on climate change and former mayor of New York city, has funded a $164m campaign in the US since 2010, during which time more than half the nation’s coal-fired power plants have been closed. Now he is targeting Europe and beyond to fight climate change and air pollution:

New Republic, 45th US President to the World – “Fossil Fuels Are Good for You”: No longer content to just deny climate change, the administration is now making the moral case for burning oil and coal:

My neighborhood is half “yay/boo” and half “boo/yay.” And above all, we are a good neighborhood, because it is very small. Half of the houses are second vacation homes. So, not much burning of nuthin out here.

Great Article!
UST Luga is Russia!
Russia uses 200 million tons of coal annually.
PSE&G’s Coal is a special Rank, and grade,
and originally sourced from Indonesia..
Not to Worry, while PSE&G closed their Hudson plant, and Mercer Plant,
both coal fired Rankine cycle plants….
PSE&G is installing Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine plants CCCT.
These plants produce electricity a commodity item, at 61% efficiency, Amazing!
Edison’s original Peal Street Power plant ran at 7.5% efficiency..
Hence electricity’s cost to the censurer is roughly the same today as it was in 1882, Amazing!
Today’s single family homes are built with 400 amp electrical panels.
In the 1900’s it was 30 amps..
Alas, the CCCT cycle runs on Natural Gas, or Jet Fuel, and not coal..
They’ve unsuccessfully tried to gassify coal for the Kemper County, Mississippi CCCT plant..
SBI ParaPara, just left NY harbor last week, no doubt bound for the
same Russian consignee..
