Here was part 1. Thanks much for the comments. My conclusion is that most but not all were taken at the 1986 centennial celebration of our lady of the harbor. I am still seeking a photo of the canal tug Grand Erie, ex-USACE Chartiers, launched in 1951, at the event.
Barque Simón Bolívar, it would be good to see her back in the sixth boro again. At this point, she was less than a decade old. This past summer, she called in various ports in the Caribbean.
Any help here anyone?
USS Iowa BB-61 served as the reviewing stand for the event. Click here for scans of the day and here for video. Can anyone identify the tug alongside the battleship starting at about 2:10?
Barque Eagle of course. Can anyone identify the tugs in this photo?
It’s schooner Pioneer in the background.
The red-hulled vessel at the foot of the tower . . is that stick lighter Ollie, now rotting away in VerPlanck? See the end of this post. Anyone know the USCG tug?
These look like the morning-after spent fireworks shells. What did it say in front of “industry” here? And here ends the photos supplied by Harry Thompson.
And here, as a note that I should do a post soon about Ollie . . . is one of the photos I took of her in 2010. I saw her earlier in 2015, and it’ was even sadder by five years than this one. Anyone have good pics of Ollie in her day?
Thanks very much, Harry, for getting this show going.

Great show Will and Harry. The tall ships parade was awesome. USS James C Owens DD 776 was there flying a Brazilian flag , renamed Serigipe D 35.

The second-last image shows USCGC Raritan, WYT-93, veteran of the Greenland Ice Patrol in WWII and served from Governors Island till her retirement.
The Standard Boat lighter is not Ollie, but the venerable Vernie S., 1897 — Ollie’s older sister. She was at that time operated from Pier 15 by Friends of the Wavertree. She’s heading out here for the fireworks.

The 110 foot Coast Guard tug is the RARITAN WYTM-93. The MAHONING WYTM-91 was identical, but was decommissioned in 1984. She was donated by the Coast Guard, and became SUNY Maritime’s GENERAL PHILIP SCHUYLER. RARITAN was decommissioned in 1988, and was also donated to the college for spare parts for the GENERAL SCHUYLER. http://www.76fsa.org/cgta/mahoning.htm, http://www.76fsa.org/cgta/raritan.htm The scow that was used to set off the fireworks display was a New York Trap Rock Scow. At the time, NY Trap Rock was owned by Lone Star Industries, Inc., so that is what the missing lettering was on the scow that can’t be seen. New York Trap Rock was also previously owned by the Martin Marietta, Corp. Lone Star Industries owned the New York Trap Rock Rock Corp from 1965-1997. Tilcon NY acquired all of the assets in 1997, and are now the present owners.

Second pic: Looks like the Kathleen or Turecamo Girls to the right.
Fourth pic: Left of the bow of Eagle is the HJ Reinauer (ex: Rowe of Boston Towboat) and astern of her looks like a Hess/Red Star boat.

The CG tug would be either the Mahoning, Manitou, or the Saulk. All 110 ft and virtually identical and were stationed at Base Manhatten while I was there in 1962/63. They did light ice breaking and took customs and imigration officials out to meet the incoming passenger ships. Also fire fighting etc.

Second photo down: the tug to the right instantly identified by old Turecamo hands as Bart Turecamo. And I’m going to say the schooner on the left is the Bill of Rights.

The Hess Tug is the Crusader, now owned by Gateway. She sunk in 1988 and was raised and sent to Hesse’s yard in Brooklyn, eventually gateway bought her, refurbished and sent to work. One thing about that tug, was it was a lousy sea boat !
