All ships are basically containers. They are –after all– sometimes called vessels. And just as is true of a FedEx aircraft or a semi or a plain-brown wrapper . . . ship’s names give little clue about what’s in the holds. So for now, let’s just look at a few and leave it at that: they are a delight to look at.
Would this be pronounced “pango?”
And finally from Maureen . . . our elusive and fast Afrodite, southbound for St. John.
Thanks to Maureen for this last one. All other by Will Van Dorp.

Nice Afrodite picture!
Afrodite: The first time we saw her, August, She was heading North to Albany, on one of her early daylight runs, And she was moving at a high rate of speed, or a rapid velocity. Her Sheer Size, and Gracefulness were really something, I kept up with her on the bicycle, and followed her up to the GWB. A few weeks ago I Bumped into Afrodite @ Fairway Market 132nd
And it was during the daytime, A highly unusual daylight sighting, since she’s crepuscular, or nocturnal: All I saw was her Black Starboard Side, TEN,
Afrodite, and of course the Requisite No Smoking, Safety First Signage!
