Foto #6. John J. Tabeling doing what tug/barge units do today . . . . bunkering. Tabeling was scrapped in 2005; Statendam was scrapped in 2004.

Tanker A.H. DUMONT was built by RTC Shipbuilding Co., Camden, N.J. in 1940, as Hull # 129 for the Spentonbush Fuel Transport Service Co., Inc., New York. She was transferred for wartime service in 1941 to the U.S. Navy, & renamed BAILER YO-54. After the war the Navy transferred her back to Spentonbush where she was once again renamed A.H. DUMONT. I spent many happy teenage days aboard this vessel during the Summer of 1961. In 1977, Spentonbush, Red Star Towing, Sheridan Towing & all of the other assets owned by the Bushey Family were sold to the Amerada-Hess Corp. Weeding of vessels started immediately, and the tankers were some of the first to go. On June 10, 1986, she was sunk off of the Jersey Coast as an artificial reef. http://njscuba.net/reefs/site_nj06gn_ah_dumont.html
Photo No. 8 is not the MARY A. WHALEN. The tanker pictured is the MORANIA MARLIN owned by the Morania Oil Tanker Corp. She was also a product of the RTC Shipbuilding Corp., Camden, N.J., being built there in 1956 as Hull # 235. In the late 1980’s, Poling Transportation Co. bought her, and she was renamed BONNIE B. http://www.tugboatinformation.com/tug.cfm?id=897. The photo that you ask if it is the Mary Whalen is the Morania Marlin or Abaco…As for the Princess Bay one of her old captains bought her (Doug Hovercamp) and took her down south to St Lucia I believe and she ended there.
