Until 2009, the Florida-built vessel was immediately distinguishable from Charles D. McAllister by her boom spool.

Hornbeck Tidewater equipment seems less frequent in the sixth boro these days, but last weekend I caught
Huron Service, 1979 and ’81 respectively. Astern is the unmistakeable Atlantic Salvor, itself a former Tidewater boat.

Tidewater didn’t buy Hornbeck, that article on tuginfo’s Facebook page is from when tidewater bought the old Hornbeck. That would have been huge news down here, and I have a few friends who work there.

newenglandwaterman–thanks for the correction. i see tidewater DID buy out an entity called hornbeck in 1996ish, but the current HOS begins its history in 1997. complicated sometime . . .
