If I haven’t not yet mentioned/heaped praise on tugboatinformation.com, the site started by Birk Thomas (see last foto) and now co-administered by him and Harold E. Tartell, I am truly remiss. Now that they have begun creating this capacious database, I don’t have to replicate some of their info. So how about some fotos from the last two days:
North Sea . . . which I haven’t seen in quite a while. Doubleclick enlarges.
Margaret Moran on her way to Red Hook,
Sarah Dann headed for home-barge-home in the AK,
(I think) JoAnne Reinauer III, with Navig8 Faith in the background,
Gramma Lee T Moran . . and I’ve no idea what that Coast Guard RIB was doing,
Quantico Creek following a strange puff of cloud,
Kimberly Turecamo assisting Mount Kibo. By the way, Kibo is one of the volcanic cones near the summit of Kilimanjaro.
Patapsco awaits favorable movement through the Gate, and finally

Thanks Will for the kind words extended to Birk & I. I was going to do a website such as the one we are doing on my own. Birk & I met on the internet, he started the website, and asked me to come on to assist him. Instead of going against him, and having my own separate site, I decided that the two of us as a team could accomplish more together. It’s “Working.” The Facebook page is also doing very well. We have 169 members, and we are still growing. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. Things are always constantly changing. Many new and older companies to add, but to see Success is Gratifying & Exciting.
The number 4 photo in this post is definitely JoANNE REINAUER III with RTC 81.

I assume tugboatinformation.com is focussing only on American tugs & towing companies?
Good site! my compliments!
I can recommend your European (Dutch) colleagues: http://www.tugspotters.com, loads of information on there as well.

Yes, We are only going to focus on American Tugs & Towing Companies. No Military tugs or foreign tugs. There are too many American tugs alone to deal with. We plan to cover companies on the East and Atlantic Coast from Maine to Florida, the Gulf Coast, & Puerto Rico. On The West and Pacific Coasts companies from Washington to California, including Alaska & Hawaii.
Tugspotters.com however, is an excellent site with good coverage of foreign tugs, and some American Tugs & Offshore Supply Vessels. This site has been recommended for those interested in these vessels on our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/105375971881/

Will, the thing that struck me about Mount Kibo when I shot it this week, is its the first UPT tanker I’ve seen in BLUE… typically as you know, their hull red. Probably just a one-off I guess, but perhaps not?
