International trade to the sixth boro has traveled via the canal system. As much identification as we know is on the foto, kindly lent by Rich Taylor. I know from Rich that it delivered newsprint here from Quebec. Anyone know the name of the vessel? years of service in this trade? actual route? names of either of the three men on deck? how newsprint gets delivered to the sixth boro today?
Thanks to Rich Taylor for this scanned foto. Let me reiterate that a goal I have for this blog is this sort of collaboration; email me and propose a collaboration.
Remember, coming up on June 19 . . . the mermaid parade on Coney Island.

I have since learned that this vessel quite likely operated out of Trois-Rivieres Qc and traveled from there via the St Lawrence and then at Sorel, went up the Richelieu to Champlain . . . Can anyone along those waterways confirm seeing the newsprint carriers in places like Whitehall, Fort Edward, Schuylerville . . . ?
