I just wrote “5.” but then I saw what was in the harbor today:
Pride of Baltimore II , as seen from Pioneer…
as seen with the Bayonne in the background…
and Gorch Fock II , docked in Brooklyn.
USCG barque Eagle, considered a Gorch Fock class barque and originally called Horst Wessel, docked right across the river in Manhattan. Gorch Fock, Eagle, and Peking . . . all built by Blohm and Voss. Check a shoreview from another blog here.
Glad I went down to the water today.

The ship was in Boston today (12 October 2007) in East Boston and just left. It has a bunch of tractor trailer trucks and an orange school bus on board. I couldn’t read it’s home port. I live in a high rise condo facing the harbor and happened to notice it from my window but I don’t know when it arrived. After it backed out of the dock it made a 360 degree turn before heading out.
