Here’s the mystery vessel proposed by Mitbok, winner of the Relief Crew 2 post. What local yawl is this? First correct identification gets to post the next “relief crew” post.
My addition is a question about the photo below, another from Elizabeth’s September 2005 Mayor’s Cup archives. My question: Is the vessel in the foreground the same yawl as above? I’m not sure.
The background vessel is Lettie G. Howard, in the spotlight for the second day in a row.
While we’re on the subject of yawls and mysteries, why are some “lifeboats” or gigs carried on schooners called yawlboats? Google it and find lots of references to yawlboats.

Yup, Pete’s got it. The first yawl is the Leilani. The “1903” in the main is the year she was built. However, the foreground vessel in the second picture is not the same. Look closely: The second boat has a white transom and a radar/loran at the Mizzen spreaders. Leilani has a bright transom and no radar.
