Tug JOAN McALLISTER works out of Port Jefferson, and is tied up near the ferry slips of the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry which is owned by McAllister. The last that I had heard was that CROW blew her main engine. I don't know her fate, or where she is presently laid up. Considering the age of the boat, and the cost of replacing the engine, I would venture to say that her time is up. I saw that boat launched in April, 1963 at Bushey Shipyard. The first launching that I had ever experienced. That was 50 years ago, and I was 16 years old. I have to be careful and mindful that my main engine may blow, and my time will be up someday soon. I hope that I have a few more good years ahead of me. I am in good health, so maybe I will be fortunate.
