I note that "Mark" appears to be a much cleaner, more fair design than others, not the speed by her displaced quarter wake and the lack of disturbed water, almost as clean as a sailing vessel.
Speculation: Did K'Seas problems and sale rise from that event on the Delaware two years back? Last week there was a 17 Million dollar wrongfull death judgement for the run down duck boat and there will be more to follow for other injuries. NTSB found against them .

Is the tug Ellen the operating indirect on MOL Earnest's stern? She must be a z-drive, I dont know of many conventional tugs that an safely do that.

Also, I reviewed your photos of Pegasus and I love seeing an old tug still hauling an appropriate barge around with her. I work on modern tugs and such but my heart is till in the old boat and the skill therein. The closest I've gotten to the handling skills of old is long wire towing up in Alaska.

Thanks again for the great reports from the sixth borough.

There Is A Deadline For Single Skin Tankers & Tank Barges. After The Grounding Of The EXXON VALDEZ In 1989, The OPA 90 Regulation Was Put Into Effect, That All Newly Constructed Tank Barges & Tankers Must Be Double Hulled. There Was A Grandfather Clause Put Into Effect Allowing Companies To Upgrade Their Fleets To Double Hulls, & Since There Would Be A Large Demand For New Construction, Allowance Was Made For Companies To Make The Upgrades. Time Is Running Out, However, & The Single Skins Must Go For The Companies To Be In Compliance With OPA 90.
